Whatever your target or motivation, remember that the marathon is a rough and tough event. It is not for the faint hearted. If it were easy it would be no challenge.

Every marathon run is an amazing achievement regardless if it’s a first or 500th. It can be done to raise money for charity, to loose weight, lower a PB or simply to test yourself.

It may be a goal to run a marathon abroad for a new challenge or as an excuse to travel. The big 5 (London, Berlin, New York, Boston and Chicago) are an aspiration rather than a reality to most due to limited entries and costs. Even charity entries require a minimum amount of money to be raised that can run into thousands of Euros.
